My cute Aunt Marj passed away right after Labor Day. She was more than an Aunt, she was like another Grandma to me. She was my Grandma Gardner's older sister. We have made a lot of fun memories with her.
When we got the phone call there at the end of August that she was going to be passing soon, we all rushed to her side. Breann came out, and I kept Lyndi home with me while Ty and other kids went camping. We had some tender moments with Marj. She wasn't all there, but you could tell she knew we looked familiar.
She loved seeing Lyndi. She called her sweetheart, and would smile and try to hold her hand. She was slurring her words a bit, but we loved talking to her. We talked quietly to her and you could tell that she loved having us there. She told us that she loved us. She also told us that she was dying. We told her it was ok to die and that there were lots of people waiting to see her. She lasted 7 days like this. It was hard to see her like this, but I am glad we got to say our good byes to her.
Some of our favorite memories with her are when she would come out from Provo to Vernal and take her grand daughter Rio who's birthday is 5 days before mine and we are the same age, and me to the hotel for a sleep over.
When we would come out to Provo to go school clothes shopping, we would always go to her house to do a fashion show for her.
It was also fun to have her in Hawaii with us when mom took us.
It was definitely hard to see her go because she was the last little piece of my grandma that I had here on earth. We aren't close at all to my grandma's only brother, Howard. He is still alive. The couple days before we got word that she wasn't doing well was my grandma's 7th year of being gone. But this year my grandma was feeling extra close this year for some reason. When we got the word that Marj wasn't doing well, I knew that this was the reason I was feeling Grandma extra close. I told this to Breann and she said she had felt Grandma near as well. Tender mercy.
