7.4.11 weekend

We started out the weekend by heading up to Dutch John to watch their fireworks and just spend the afternoon up there. It was beautiful weather up there. There was a storm that came through, but it blew over before the fireworks. It was nice to have a little get a way up to the mountain. We got to see the spill way coming out of the dam and that was way cool to see. Addi wasn't a fan of the fireworks like we thought she might be. She wanted to hide and not watch them at all. I think it was all the "booms".

Nan asked her if she could do muscle man and this is
as high as she would go with her arms.

Hiding from the fireworks..

We then celebrated the 4th by of course heading to the parade. The jets were super cool as always. The rest of the parade was so-so. Addi loved it and that is why you go right? To make your kids happy? We had family over that night for dinner and then instead of going to the park to watch the fireworks, we stayed home to get Addi bathed and all that fun stuff. We were in our bedroom when the fireworks started and we were able to watch them from our bedroom window. Can't get any better than that right? Addi liked the fireworks then because they were from a distance. . We told her that fireworks were kind of like popcorn because they "pop". So she kept saying, "Popcorn... yay" or when she would see one go off in the air she would say the same thing.  We then went over to Grandma's to light fireworks; she  wasn't a fan of that either. She was totally fine when we weren't lighting them, but as soon as one would go off she was ducking for cover. It was kind of cute to watch. Hopefully someday she won't be scared of them. All in all we had a great little weekend and I am so grateful that we have the 4th of July to remember what a blessing it is to live in America.
