May is always full of end of school year activities as well as summer sports starting as well. It always hits me hard when May comes because that means my kids are ending another school year. I have a harder time when they end school rather than beginning. Summer is always a busy time and I love spending time with them though.
We kicked off May 1st with heading up to Provo to see some street vendors. The older kids made some spray paint art. We then went to make some soap. Which was SO much fun. The kids said that is something they definitely want to do again.
After we went to make soap, I made my way up to SLC to have a little 24 hour break with Whitney to celebrate my early birthday. We strolled along Red Butte Garden looking at flowers, ate dinner, chatted, stayed the night in a hotel, then woke up and had breakfast and went shopping. It was super needed for both of us. Lots of chatting and just spending time together.
On May 7th Grandma celebrated her birthday. We sang her happy birthday and then we went out to dinner at a new Mexican Restaurant that we definitely want to try again. We are always happy to celebrate birthday on their actual birthday!
On my birthday we were able to do lots of things because it was on Saturday. We went down to the greenhouse and got hanging plants, We had some lunch in Payson, and then we went to a little craft show where Emmy got her face painted. We then all headed up to the Jazz game. It was the first time the kids had been to a game there. We brought along Addi C. as well. It was a super fun day spending time together.
My mom showed me a picture of myself when I was in about Kindergarten. That shirt was my favorite at the time. I decided we would try to recreate it. Crimpy hair and all.
On May 9, was Mother's day. The kids all gave me such sweet things that they made me. Definitely felt the love. We then got ready for church because it was the first time in over a year that we went back to 2 hour church. I wanted a picture with the kids. This was take 1... we had to take 2 because of Lyn.
That Sunday was also Lyn's first time as a sunbeam. She was actually quite sad that she didn't get to go play with toys in nursery. However I think she secretly likes being in with all the big kids now.
Emmy's teacher made a cookbook for us moms with all the kids in her class's favorite recipes. Cutest thing EVER!!
I realized that I haven't really made Lyn ride her bike much. So off we went on a little walk to get her comfortable with it. She did not like it at first because it was different and hard for her. After a few minutes she did enjoy it and now loves to ride it.
Addi had her field day on May 10. She decided to do the events of 100m, long jump, and softball throw. Parker had to teach her how to do the standing long jump because Addi had never done it before. Ty and I were laughing at her because you could tell she was getting in her zone to compete because she was not sitting by any of her friends and wasn't really interacting with anyone. She had a great day with winning her heats for the 100m in both the trials, and semi-finals. In the finals she took 2nd which is the best she has done in that race. She was super proud of her self with that. She also ended up taking 2nd in the long jump. She also got 1st in the softball throw. She will never cease to amaze me with her talent of athletics. Once again, I tell her I'm proud of how hard you work. Winning isn't always the end game. It's as long as you do your best. It was fun to hear her school cheering her on in the Finals race. "Let's go Addi!!"
This is Addi's friend Molly. She gets to help Molly at school when she goes in to the special needs classroom. Molly's little sister is on Emmy's t-ball team and Molly found Addi. It is so cute to see them play together. Molly's dad and I were talking and he couldn't stop smiling at how happy Molly was with Addi. He said he was very grateful for friends like Addi and how they treat special needs. Addi has always had a soft spot for special need children. From a super young age.
Emmy is once again playing T-ball and thinks it's pretty great. Especially because they are pink storm. T-ball is always great for entertainment!
The girls had been wanting to have a picnic lunch for a while now. Dad took the day off and we went down to Salem Pond for a picnic. We were able to feed the ducks as well! They are already asking when we can do another picnic.
Lyndin's last day of preschool was on May 19th. It has been amazing the things she comes home talking about or things she did. I don't think she understand that she won't be going back until August.
Grandma Debbie came out to surprise Emmy for her early birthday since we had so many activities for the weekend. Em closed her eyes while I led her to Grandma. She gave grandma a big hug and said I have missed you.. They then went shopping and had lunch.
Addi has played Rec ball this year. It is hard to watch after watching accelerated. It is nice to see Addi being a leader and also trying new positions. She has mostly played 1st base. She tried catching too.
This little one had her last day of school on her birthday! She loved that the last 2 years of school have ended on her birthday.
This will be the only year that all 3 of them will be in the same school. Canyon has been an amazing school for them all.
Graduation day! May 21st! We didn't do a kindergarten graduation which was sad. So we got pictures as they came out of the school.
This is Zoey.
This is Mikki. Emmy's smile kills me. She was smiling like that all day. I had to say, show me your teeth.
Also on the 21st Rachel got married. The kids were part of the wedding party. It was a cold rainy day. Yet there were still smiles all around.
The next morning we woke up really early to head to Price to play our first tournament with Hitsquad. We ended up taking 2nd place after a hard loss. We didn't end the day until 11:00 pm. The girls played really well.
Nap time!
Addi has gotten asked to play a few times for her friend's softball team, Knockouts. They have asked her to pick up in a few of their tournaments too. She hasn't played in one of those of theirs quite yet. It is fun to see her playing in all different areas.
More pictures from the wedding. Rachel was amazing and had everyone sing happy birthday to her.
We enjoyed all the warm weather. I packed a picnic for the girls and then walked around the park while they had their picnic. They sat there for 20 minutes just chit chatting and surprisingly no fighting. The little black and white photo was taken by Lynni's friends. It's her genuine smile!
Last day of school for these two on May 28th! Crazy to think how much they have grown. Even though the kids had to wear masks all year, they both stayed in school the entire year. No quarantine and no online school. We will take that as a win!
Addi also graduated from elementary school that day as well. She was so excited. Once it was over though she had the tears. I respond the same way to the ending of chapters of life. She was smiles and tears all afterwards. I can't believe she is half way through school!
Addi and Sarah. Sarah was one of Addi's first friends when we moved to Spanish Fork.
I'm not sure who all the girls are in this picture. They wanted a photo with Addi. Then she needed hugs from dad. I had my share of hugs from her that day too.
She had been wanting to take Bugs to school all year. Since graduation day was a half day she loaded him up to take him to school and show him off.
After school we invited the Collett family to go have a silly string fight and have popsicles with us. They hadn't ever had a silly string fight before.
Lyndin's hair afterwards.
After the silly string fight we came home and relaxed. After a little bit Addi comes inside and is BAWLING!!!! She is holding Bugs and he was straight up and down. I said ohh no!!!! Where did you find him. She told us she found him in the bed of Dad's truck. Ty and I had forgotten to take him out of the truck bed and put him back in his house. He passed away from heat exhaustion. We all cried. We had a little graveside service for him. Addi was so devastated. She went and picked out a box for him and also a little grave marker. Ty and I felt so bad. The other kids had some tears too. Very sad afternoon at our house.
We didn't go anywhere for Memorial weekend. We decided to stick around town because we knew how busy our summer was going to be. Went down to Salem pond to Kayak with the Collett's. It was a beautiful day to do it.
